Trekking poles

10 products

Trekking poles provide additional points of support when walking and help distribute the load between the lower and upper body. They are useful for hiking, walking in varied terrain and on longer routes, where they increase stability especially when ascending and descending.

Telescopic designs allow the length to be adjusted according to the user's height and the type of terrain, while folding constructions make transport easier. Ergonomic grips, wrist straps and interchangeable tips for different types of surfaces also play an important role.

Trekking poles or Nordic walking poles?

The main difference lies in their construction and walking technique. A trekking pole serves as a support – the user leans on it while walking and uses it to increase stability in demanding terrain. It therefore typically has a conventional grip with a simple wrist strap and a more robust tip suitable for use on uneven ground.

Nordic walking poles, on the other hand, are designed for active pushing backwards behind the body. They typically feature a special glove-like strap that connects the palm more securely to the pole, allowing the user to release the grip at the end of the push and then catch the pole again. Nordic walking poles are generally lighter and are primarily used for brisk walking on flatter paths.
