Kinesiology tapes
Kinesio tape is an elastic taping tape that can stretch with the skin after application and, unlike rigid sports tape, is not intended for rigid joint fixation. With the correct application technique, it can influence support of the muscles and soft tissues without significantly restricting the natural range of movement.
The tapes are made from elastic fabric with an adhesive layer activated by pressure and heat. Individual variants differ mainly in width, roll length, elasticity, adhesive used and resistance to contact with water.
The resulting effect of kinesiotaping depends on the direction of application, the tension of the tape and the application site. For therapeutic use, it is therefore advisable to follow the technique recommended by a physiotherapist or other specialist.
