Four-Legged and Four-Wheeled Walking Frames

Being able to go shopping independently or move safely around the home can be very important for a person with limited mobility. A walking frame provides broader and more stable support when walking than a cane or crutches and, depending on its design, can be useful at home, during rehabilitation and for regular outdoor movement.

Not every walking frame looks like the familiar four-wheeled rollator. Simple fixed, articulated and two-wheeled walking frames are lightweight, compact and well suited to use around the home. The articulated design allows the individual sides to be moved forward alternately, while the two-wheeled version makes movement easier without having to lift the entire frame with every step.

For more active outdoor movement, four-wheeled rollators are primarily intended. Actimo, Mobilus, Rocky, Explorer and other models are equipped with brakes and, depending on the design, also feature a seat, backrest or bag for shopping and personal belongings. A seat is particularly practical on longer journeys – when you run out of energy, there is no need to look for the nearest bench. Lightweight aluminium and carbon constructions also make handling, folding and transporting the walking frame by car easier.

The range also includes walking frames with forearm support platforms, which are used when practising standing and walking with assistance. In addition to standard walking frames for everyday mobility, you can therefore also choose aids designed to provide more demanding support during movement.

With a walking frame, it ultimately matters not only whether it has two or four wheels. A person who needs support for a few metres around the home will have different requirements from someone who regularly goes outdoors with a rollator. The right walking frame should above all make it possible to safely manage the type of movement that is important to its user.
